Pregnancy | 22 Weeks

How Far Along: 22 weeks preggers!

Size of Baby: An ear of corn...and ONE POUND! Bless!

Gender: Our little girl, Nancy Hope Houston!

Weight Gain: 12 lbs total! I'm up 2 lbs from my last checkup...I was so relieved it wasn't more after a) big jump last time b) Thanksgiving...since gluttonous eating without working out lasted that day and throughout the following weekend.

Prayer Request: Long story short, there's nothing too much to worry about, but Mark and I have to go in for a 3rd anatomy ultrasound with a high risk specialist this time. For our past 2 ultrasounds, the technicians haven't been able to get the images they want of Nancy's face and profile. Most of that--I'm told--is due to the fact that homegirl is chilling butt down head up. And I hope she's laughing about it. Because I was breech. My poor mother had to have a c-section because there was no way this booty was going through the birth canal first. So joke is on me (even though I realize Nancy has tons of time to get herself head down for labor)!

Anyway, without having the images they want for confirmation, the doctors still need to check for spina bifida and Down's Syndrome. (Mark and I opted not to have genetic testing done in my 13th week of pregnancy.) We truly are at peace about this little "situation" Nancy lovingly has us in; however, I am a big believer in prayer, and I want to be intentional about praying for her continued health! (Note that her brain and heart looked rockin' in those past 2 ultrasounds, too!) Thank you in advance for your sweet prayers for our precious baby girl!

Movement: She's movin' and groovin'! I can feel her pretty easily from the outside now...since I'm the one that can feel when she moves from the inside too. :) Otherwise, it's still hard for Mark to detect the still subtle movements since my placenta in the front of my tummy -- between Nancy and everyone else who wants to feel her. To be honest, I don't mind that feeling her is something special that just she and I share for now.

Sleep: Pretty good. Had a few wide awake 4/5am mornings before I could fall back asleep 30 min later.

Workouts: PB x 4! Still in plank for 90 sec and getting away without too many modifications...listening to my body through it all. When my core is shaking, I like to think that Nancy thinks it's really fun. Ha!

Maternity Clothes: I tried out my Tar-jay full panel yoga/maternity leggings this weekend. HOLY COMFORT. I'm obsessed with them. They're really good [thick!] quality too. So comfy! I still can get into my regular jeans though. Well, barely. I'll probably be busting out the belly band next week. Also, I'm just fascinated about maternity clothing comfort. First time mom probs for sure. I also got some clothes in from Pink Blush Maternity that I can't wait to show y'all starting tomorrow!

Symptoms: Still feeling great! Mild heartburn one day. Numb, tingly hands sometimes overnight. That's really it. Whoever said this is the "honeymoon trimester" hit the nail on the head.

Cravings/Aversions: Sweets, of course. I baked cookies on Sunday night just because. :)

Missing Most: Nada.

Nursery: Getting more on that in Charlotte when we're home for Christmas! We are bringing her crib home after the break (if it fits in my Prius...) from a sweet, sweet family friend! EEEEEE! It's getting real!!!!

Hubby: Since the belly is slowly becoming more of a regularly appearing thing, he has been loving on it lots this week. Lots of tummy kisses and extra talking to Nancy. It's really precious watching their daddy daughter bond form. The more I think about what a guy's guy he is, the more I think about how perfect a little girl is for our family. My Englishman loves to joke and tell me that "English people don't show emotion." For real y'all, I still have never seen him cry, and that drives me crazy! I'm smiling thinking about this baby girl having him wrapped around her emotional, dramatic, girly little fingers. God knew exactly who we needed when he chose Nancy for our family. :)

Best Part of the Week: A seriously lazy weekend full of lots of family snuggling on the couch.

Friday night

Sunday...Tina only sits with me during football games (soccer and American football alike!) because she is so scared of Mark yelling at the tv. Poor frightened pup!! She literally shakes the entire game. Hilarious.

Can't Wait For: Heading home for Christmas on the 23rd!!! We get to stay for a while. We're PUMPED. Marky has been working his booty off and deserves a big, long BREAK!
