More Than A Conqueror [Guest Post]

IMG_8180

Life is messy right now. I don't mean literally (although the mess certainly has spilled out and over literally). Relatives are sick and dying (literally). I have to decide what next step to take in a particularly painful relationship in my life (the most painful, in fact). (Also you know, God, please feel free to let me know what to do...anytime...anytime at all...) Work is crazy plus I happen to be an overachiever which, as you may know, is a recipe for disaster at times. There's more but let's just call it a hot mess right now. Pause for pretty blogger picture.

I am wondering and waiting on so many answers from God, trying to honor Him and rest in the waiting. Sometimes even that is messy–the waiting. Maybe I'm supposed to live in the mess and be okay with it? Who knows? I mean, Who knows. But He's the only one right now. Commercial break for pretty blogger picture.

I think sometimes as bloggers, we have this platform, and we write as if we have all the answers. And sometimes we do have answers and tutorials and recipes and opinions and experiences. But let me be honest. Sometimes we don't. And right now is one of those times.  Sometimes being in process while blogging is one of the hardest things. But we must do it anyway. We've got to let the body see our mess because that is what the body is for–to pray for one another and encourage one another and to help one another fight the good fight. So that is what I am doing–showing you my mess and blogging while in process, while in the mess. But first let's take a macaroon selfie.

I went through a phase where this verse was everything to me. I think I need to go back to that place: "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:37-39). There is so much there to meditate on, so much to pray on. But today, I am remembering that because of Jesus I am not just a conqueror, I am more than a conqueror. And you are too. Are we living as conquerors? As more than conquerors? Even in the mess? I haven't been. I haven't been at all. But the beautiful part is His mercies are new every morning. This is what I am praying: that I would remember–in the mess–who I am in Jesus and that girl is more than a conqueror.

Love,

September Sponsor Spotlight

Today let's celebrate the season with these sweet ladies' fall favorites!

Name: Elizabeth Burns
TOP 5 FALL FAVORITES
[ONE] Seasonal Beauty
One of the perks of living in the Midwest is that we get each of the four seasons to the extreme. When fall comes, the trees all start to change color, the air is brisk, and nature is getting ready for a long winter's nap. I love that we get each season and even love when the weather gets a little colder (until February and I am frozen to the core sick of winter!).

[TWO] Hot Lattes
In the summer months, I love iced hazelnut lattes but when the air is crisp, it is time to switch back to the hot drinks! I am not a fan of pumpkin spice lattes (I know, it's a crime) but there is something about a perfectly brewed hot cup of goodness to warm you up on a brisk autumn day.

[THREE] Sweaters, and Blankets, and Boots! Oh my!
The fall wardrobe is one of my favorites! Warm sweaters, jeans, boots, and layers of cozy cuteness. It may be time to go shopping for a few new wardrobe pieces...

[FOUR] Fall Decor
I love making our house a home! The extra touches go a long way and it may take a few years to find all the pieces I want for each season, I loved getting out my fall wreath, porch decor, and few other pieces to bring autumn inside our home. I like to decorate with a harvest/autumn theme instead of a Halloween theme but it also lasts longer that way!

[FIVE] Secret Christmas Music(?!)
I secretly start listening to Christmas music once the months end in "b-e-r". I have too many favorite to cram them in between Thanksgiving and Christmas so I start early and go late with the holiday season. Thanksgiving and Christmas are my favorite times of the year!

TOP 5 FALL FAVORITES
I am a summertime girl at heart but there is something about the change of seasons to fall that is just beautiful and breathtaking. There are countless things I love about fall so it was hard to narrow it down to five. These are the first five that popped into my head.
1. The change of weather that brings crisp air in the mornings when heading out on a run.
2. Comfy clothes including oversized sweaters paired with a great pair of boots.
3. The smell of a fresh bowl of candy corn. It’s a mixture of cake and happiness.
4. The look on my pup Charlie’s face when he is chasing falling leaves.
5. Driving the Blue Ridge Parkway and enjoying the breathtaking scenery.

Had Me At Hello

Hello <3

No, really. All it took was a simple, "Hello!" and I was 100% in for trying this new kind of Lindt chocolate. First of all: chocolate. Duh...no brainer. Second of all: Lindt

Do y'all have special associations/memories with Lindt chocolate too!? Or is it just me? Lindt makes me think of Christmastime. My mom isn't a big chocolate person, but she always puts those perfectly wrapped, pretty Lindt spheres around the house for the holidays. So that's my food association. :) In our house, Lindt is for special occasions like Christmas. And even my not-so-chocoholic mama knows that Lindt chocolate is simply the best.

ANYWAY!
In comes a new kind of Lindt.
That should be eaten more than just at Christmas...

Yes, of course I assorted them in rainbow color order.
And "Where can I find this goodness," you ask? TARGET. Everybody's favorite place.

The richness of Lindt chocolate + these new flavors = the bomb.
Strawberry Cheesecake...
Caramel Brownie...
Cookies and Cream!?!...
Crunchy Nougat!!...
I MEAN.

It was such a pain trying them all. I mean, who wants to try ALL OF THE CHOCOLATE?!
I kid, I kid. It was a treat...in every sense of the word plus some!
And you want to know my favorite?!

Guess what that goodness is? Do you know, do you know?!
Cookies and cream. That's what's up.
It's like Lindt chocolate and Hershey's Cookies and Cream had a baby....and this was it.
And...really quickly...can we talk about the cuteness of the little chocolates!? Each break off piece of the bar either has hearts, says "Hello" with a heart, OR says "Nice to sweet you!" Love it. Presh.

Last fun thing: sweepstakes! Enter away to win fun prizes like a date night for you and your sweetie! There are new prizes every week...and good stuff too. Think spa day with your bestie or a shopping spree with your gals. Sign me up, right?! You can enter right here! :) [And it seriously takes like two seconds.] Also be sure to check out Lindt's "It Started With Hello" series on YouTube!

Tell me if you try this goodness! And if your favorite is cookies and cream like this girl! ;)

Because a HELLO with chocolate is ALWAYS a day maker in my book...CHEERS!
Full disclosure: This post is sponsored by Lindt; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Fall Recipe Roundup (+ Share Your Favorites!)

Yes, yesterday was the first official day of fall. But it was more than that excitement that had me daydreaming of these recipes all day long. No really...all day. Rain plus temps in the 60s meant that I was contemplating: "What for dinner? Pumpkin, kale, and cheese pasta? YES. But I'll have to go to the store for that. If Mark's soccer game isn't called off, I'll have my go-to solo eating chili...with an avocado grilled cheese. But I reeeaalllly want that pumpkin pasta. Maybe I'll wait till tomorrow to see what the Teets puts on VIC special."  Yep. An invigorating peek inside my mind.

What are some of your favorite [easy!] fall recipes?! It's no secret that I'm not a pro in the kitchen. I'd love to try more! Please feel free to share your favorite links or your own recipes below. You can use the link-up or the comment section! YAY!

Cheers to fall comfort food!

Hope

Via

I love the word hope for so many reasons. Hope has a lot to do with Christ, a lot to do with my sister, and a lot to do with my sister's story (Part 1 | Part 2).

And since I'm a little hope-sick (miss you, sissy!), I thought I'd share the above Scripture today. :) That's my prayer for all of us this mighty fine Tuesday morning.

The good news for moi? I'm reunited with my fam (and friends who are fam!) in Charlotte this weekend...for a long weekend. Praise the Lord! I can't wait. I've been itching for a trip home. It has been a while. I finally get my fam fix. CLT bound in T-2 days. Woopwoop!

Wishing you the loveliest day!
