A lot of times people think when you become Christian, life becomes easy and trouble free. Though walking with God daily changes your life from the inside out, I love that Scripture tells us that "in this world you will have trouble."
It doesn't say you might have trouble or you won't have trouble. You will have trouble. It is the Truth!
But alongside that trouble, we receive peace. We have that peace because Christ overcame the world for us. He died in our place on a cross so that we might experience eternity with Him in Heaven.
John 16:33 is the first promise we're reading about for March's In the Word series that Kaitlyn and I are hosting. It's a 21 day study. It's free, completely accessible online, and we begin today! Please join us! [Access the study here.]
Share your thoughts along the way on Instagram with #ImInTheWord. We'll link up at the end of the study on Thursday, March 27th.
Please read in community with us as we explore what God promises in Scripture!
Take heart, Christ has overcome the world!

I tweeted about this study this morning! Hopefully more will join in and see His good word! So many people think God is a bad God because he promises trouble, but there is so much beauty in the difficult times. Knowing he has overcome this world and we only struggle to become closer to Him and give Him our all. <3 So happy for this study I need at the perfect time!
ReplyDeleteIn times of trouble, I don't know what I would do without my faith! Praying that this post works in the hearts of readers who may not have this same peace!

ReplyDeleteQuestion...I signed up for the emails from She Reads Truth, but they're not the ones for the "Promise" Study. When I clicked the link, I only see Day 16-21!? I don't know what I'm doing wrong or why I can't see the first 15 days, ha!

Very much needed this today! Thanks so much! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this :) People always say "If God was real, He wouldn't have let my mom get cancer or my baby die." But it's not true. God loves us, but that doesn't mean He takes away the trouble. The trouble is there to remind us to be humble and to rely on Him throughout those trials.
ReplyDeleteI'm not doing the study with you (I have my own study program), but I love reading what you have to say :)

Such a wonderful post and so so true!!!
ReplyDeleteThrough all the trials is what has tremendously built my character and my faith. A friend of mine recently experienced a gret loss and said the peace and presence of the Lord she experienced during it all was more evident of His existence than a miracle itself. I could totally resonate with her because 2 and half years ago my dad ended his battle with cancer and the presence I felt in the room when he took his last breath was out of this world. You are so absolutely right that He promises us peace in our troubles!
