I try to wear a lot of hats, so to speak. The different "hats" I wear take up certain parts of my day. Last week, God presented Mark and I with a surprise opportunity that has caused me to adopt yet another hat. And that said hat will [happily] occupy much of my time this month.
The new "hat" that I just put on? It was my final--beautifully forceful!--nudge to act on the conviction I've been feeling and start waking up earlier. It's time for a change...for the glory of God!

For the remainder of this month, I will be waking up between 5 and 6 AM at least four times a week. I'm giving myself wiggle room and grace with the hour wake up time span and 4 day commitment. [I know my sister is reading this thinking, "REALLY?" Really.]
And here's my accountability by telling all of you about it. Out in the open. It's out there floating around now. :)
So here goes nothing! Cheers to more hours in the day, more stillness in the Lord, more peace, more living.
P.S. One morning this month, I want to go to the beach and watch the sunrise. Just so you know. :)

I am not a morning person at all. When I moved across the country I for a job, I didn't realize I would be working est hours but living in a pst time zone. Plus waking up earlier than even that to spend time with the lord. Waking up at five every week day? If you would have asked me beforehand (or my friends and family for that matter) I would have laughed in your face. But..I do it. It still sounds (and feels) insane a lot of the time Lol. www.wearflowersinyourhair.com
ReplyDeleteI love both of those quotes!! I enjoy getting up while the rest of the house sleeps to have quiet time & coffee!! I definitely think a sunrise on the beach is a fantastic idea!
ReplyDeleteI love that quote about getting up early just to live an extra hour. That is so inspiring! I've been getting up at 5am 3x/wk for workouts, but I really need to make more quiet time with God. Early morning is a great time for that!
ReplyDeleteI started doing this a couple months ago and really enjoy my "me" time. devotion, coffee, a little cleaning before everyone else wakes up.
ReplyDeleteI am working on becoming more of an 'early' morning person. My son wakes up every day right around 7, so if I can get up by 6, I get a good hour to myself to get things done and prepare for the day before he wakes up. Once he gets up, it's go, go, go all day long, so I really value my morning time by myself (and with God!)
ReplyDeleteI saw the instagram photo of you going to barre this morning!! Way to get at it!! I'm more of a morning person myself and think I get more accomplished if I wake up earlier!! Hope it works for you as well!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I really REALLY try to be a morning person and wish I could wake up earlier just to "prepare" myself for the day ahead! Good for you girl!!
ReplyDeleteProud of you! I struggle with not being a morning person. When I get my morning workouts in-I feel so accomplished! You've got this!
ReplyDeleteThat is exciting news! I hope you end up enjoying the extra hours in the morning, especially as the sun is up longer! Nothing beats a good sunrise to start the day!

You are so inspiring! Seriously! This has definitely made me think and feel convicted to refocus!
ReplyDeletePlus a morning sunrise at the beach...something I'd love to do. Just sit in God's beautiful creation, just me and Him!
I LOVE waking up earlier- BUT I don't do it. I love the feeling of getting so much done and not being rushed all day long- kudos to you for sticking to your plan! Excited to hear the many surprises that come with your extra time! xoxo
ReplyDeleteIn January I started getting up an hour earlier than usual, it's stuck and makes a BIG difference :) Good luck girl!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying my hardest to get up earlier, too...but I feel like my "early" still isn't really all that early.
ReplyDeleteWish I was in WB to join you for a sunrise on the beach. I'd be there in a heartbeat!
xo
Good for you lady! I know when I've stuck to this commitment in the past I have really noticed a huge difference in my days! xoxo
ReplyDeleteYou go girl! I used to love getting up early (normally to exercise) but I always felt so fresh and RE-freshed each time I accomplished my goal to wake up and get moving! Loving that quote as well : ) Happy Thursday pretty lady! xo
ReplyDeleteI get up at 5:15 am every morning so the idea of an hour totally makes me cringe, but I love the idea behind it. Just sitting in silence or tackling more up front to start the day more productively sounds really good. I need to try.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of this, but I already have issues dragging myself out of bed at 6am. I need to see if I can do this just one day a week. Thinking about enjoying my coffee at home instead of scrambling to drink it while driving to work does make it sound worth it.
ReplyDeleteWe often get up at 5am. Last year we were actually getting up at 4:15am. I always make a list of things for the next day that night. I tackle the thing that takes the most will power first. Because we have more in the morning. I will say we also go to bed at about 8pm every night!
ReplyDeleteI am thinking WHAT?! REALLY?! Elise + sleep = the dream team!!! However, I totally get what you're saying...an hour before the rest of the world wakes up is pretty crucial. Totally feel ya sis. Xx.
ReplyDeleteI get up at 5:15 2 days and week and 6:30 the other three days. It is SO hard getting out of bed on the early mornings, but once I do I feel much better throughout the day and there really is a peace about the world that early. Good luck; I know you got this though!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! Good for you! That would be nearly impossible for me to do (I don't handle a lack of sleep well). I pray that the Lord draws you closer to Himself during this season!
ReplyDeleteI was never a morning person but forcing myself to wake up earlier just made a big difference in my life. The morning so quiet and peaceful and my favorite time of day now. xoxoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of getting up early to be more productive and less rushed but I struggle with the follow through. I have always said that if sleeping were an Olympic sport, I would be a gold medalist.
ReplyDeleteI used to be very scheduled in the morning and truthfully, I miss that time. I need to get back to that I think!! Beautiful post!
ReplyDeleteSo worth when it actually happens! I'm trying this more too!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing - because this week I've done the same thing! I posted about it last Friday. Basically, I trick myself by setting my coffee the night before. That way, it is brewed when I wake up - and I have to get up to not miss out on it! Then, I have 30 minutes with Jesus and some planning before work. Glorious!
ReplyDeleteGood for you girl...what a beautiful way to look at it too!
ReplyDeleteI've been slowly getting better at this. Going to bed at a reasonable time and waking up in the morning with enough time to slowly get ready and start the day. I feel a lot calmer and way less anxiety during the day when I start my day off on the right foot (or an hour earlier than necessary)!
ReplyDeleteI really need to start doing this as well, at the end of the day I'm just so exhausted that I don't really get to spend time with Him.
ReplyDeleteI hear that! I have never been a morning person, but I have read so many things lately about the benefits to getting up earlier. I thought to myself how nice it would be to get up early, do my devotions and maybe even start the day with Yoga.
ReplyDeleteI'm not quite there yet (I figure Daylight Savings Time is going to throw a wrench in it) but if I can get up 15 minutes earlier each day then eventually it will happen.
I can't wait to hear about all of the extra things you get done - it will help push me on!
My favorite time of day! No one to disturb you, everything is hushed. I love it and I know you will too!
