Since we're talking about being intentional through the end of the month, I thought I'd show you some of my favorite things around our home that make it reflect me...us...that show my style as well as who we are as a family. I'm intentional about homemaking. :) So let's have a look around our little Houston home...!
[Side note: I had more trouble writing this post than I imagined...mostly because I realized that a lot of this post already encompassed several of my personal favorite things in our home! But don't you worry...because I still found 5 other reflections of me/us that I didn't share with y'all on Tuesday! ;)]
LEOPARD PRINT
Well, this was an easy one. Anyone who knows me well recognizes my love for leopard print. Throughout our home, all up in my closet, the background of my iPhone, on Amelia's stuffed toy bone, on my Snuggie (ha!)...the list goes on. And on and on.
Chairs, and towels, and pillows...oh my!
(I appreciate cheesy. :))

I pinned this the other day...too perfect not to add! :)
Speaking of leopard print being my "neutral"...I also adore ALL neutral colors. Some would say our master bedroom is screaming for a pop of color. Nope. Not me. It's white, light, and peaceful. And that's just the way I like it. :)
WHITE FIREPLACES [+ CANDLES]
A white fireplace...is that a weird think to like?! Oh well...don't care. I love, love, love a good white fireplace. I think it looks so lovely and cozy!!
My interior decorator mama set up the little candle display on the left side of our fireplace. I never would have thought of doing that! (Thanks, Mommy!) The different glasses remind me of the hundreds of candles at our wedding reception. Speaking of Mom and weddings, she looked at me like I had 10 heads when Icalmly told her, "CANDLES ARE MORE IMPORTANT TO ME THAN FLOWERS!!!" during the beautiful chaos of wedding planning. ;)

Also adding to the coziness ...a blanket in a basket. Thumbs up.
ODE TO THE HUBS: THE UNION JACK
I love to have little union jacks throughout our home to pay homage to the hubby's oh-so-far-away homeland. Whenever we have a son, it will be the theme of his room. (Too soon? Owning it. Yep, I've thought about that already.)
Did you notice the neutral union jack pillow a few pictures up? That's more my jam than the real colored one...though I do love these two framed flags below because they're the ones our friends used to wave us goodbye during our wedding exit! :)

Had to take them off the wall because of the glare...
...aaand a fancy camera is oh-so-quickly climbing to the #1 spot on my Christmas wish list.
(Speaking of that...any camera suggestions/advice?! Give me a holler!!)

Couldn't resist after mentioning these flags. It's one of my favorite photos from my favorite day ever. Eeee!
COFFEE/TEA STATION!!
I love this sweet little nook so much! I'm obsessed with these Bristol canisters from Williams-Sonoma. There used to be a BISCUIT one too...but Mark broke it. While eating the enclosed biscuits. On the couch. Naturally. I'm gonna go ahead and confess to you that I'm still sad about it. Sigh. (That's pathetic of me. I know.)
My favorite thing about this nook is the little framed picture that sits on the corner. It's of our English family who we miss dearly! I start each morning looking at their smiling faces while I start up the Keurig. (If only I could make tea as perfectly as my mum-in-law makes it!!!)

Does anyone else have an electric kettle? When Mark and I were dating, he couldn't believe it when he realized I'd never seen one before (...given away by the fact that it took me 20 minutes to fix him a cup of tea because I didn't know how to turn it on)! My parents just always boiled the water in a kettle over the stove. Who knew!!
-------------------------------
So that's a little peek into our place! I just love it here. Love our home. Love Wilmington. Couldn't be happier. It's almost like it's too good to be true...but it's not. Thank you Jesus!!!
AND HAPPY FRIDAY!!! YAYAYAYAY!
Keep in touch, dolls!!
I love the leopard towels and the coffee station!

Your home is GORGEOUS! I love how you use leopard so that it pops, but still in a classy way. Can't wait to have our new house done and have a coffee/tea bar like that. The fireplace is to die for too!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday! What a beautiful home--love the use of the union jack (when said little ones come that will be perfect). Chris my fiancé's british/swiss/Brazilian (weird, I know) and I am thinking he would appreciate me getting one of these electric kettles. Whenever we have tea I always run water through the coffee pot..what a struggle haha. ALSO-loving the picture from yalls wedding, how perfect!

I truly believe there should be a little leopard in every room! You have a beautiful home:)
ReplyDeleteI love your home decor! I've been really into neutrals lately but haven't yet implemented them in our home so you're giving me ideas! I've actually been trying to find a piece to do a coffee/tea station in our dining room. Also I love the Union Jack accents, I'm not from the UK but I'm a bit of an anglophile lol.
ReplyDeleteEilse, this was one of my most favorite posts yet! I love that we got a peak into your gorgeous home and decorating style! I might have to hire you for the next house we buy ;-). And i'm a huge fan of leopard...go figure!

From one Elise to another...loving your blog. I just went back and read older entries. Also loving your heart for missions and for serving others! Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you and Kids & Cab had the same idea with the leopard - love it so much! I also have to agree with you about the candles vs flowers - that is totally how I was when we got married too! Flowers are pretty but they are expensive and they die...candles look great forever!
ReplyDeleteLoving so much of this!! Your bedroom (that headboard!), your white fireplace, your beautiful wedding picture, and yes yes yes leopard IS a neutral! Saw that on Pinterest this week and thought it was too funny but oh so true! Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful home, love the picture with the flags and your dress is so pretty!

ReplyDeleteYou and I could do some serious damage shopping together for some leopard!!!! :) And how fun would that be?!!? Your wedding pic is absolutely gorgeous! And I love the coffee/tea bar! Fantastic idea!
ReplyDeleteI love the flags - it is nice to incorporate a little bit of both! Great wedding pic, awesome coffee/tea nook, and the union jack baby room will be so sweet!

ReplyDeleteFound you on the link up! Love Love Love that fireplace! Now Im thinking I really need one in my home!! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDelete1. I want that leopard print chair. Like in a very bad way. That would be SO cute in my home.... somewhere.
ReplyDelete2. I wish I could put neutral colors in my home. My 2 year old and 10 year old...oh who am I kidding.. My whole house would destroy it. Reason why we have to replace the carpet soon. Oi.
3. Sadly, living in FL I don't get the pleasure of having a fire place. But I am warming those waxes that smell like a fireside! Just got it today. I just close my eyes and pretend HA!
4. Your wedding dress is GORGEOUS!!!!!

ReplyDeleteI love that picture from your weddings -- looks beautiful!
Ok, this made me want to go out buy a house and start decorating! LOVE the flag idea from your wedding! So personal and so sweet! Personally, I'm partial to a Nikon camera but hear great things about Canon's. Getting a big girl camera changed my life!
ReplyDeleteAre you the cutest?!
ReplyDeleteLove this whole post! I seriously love me a good white fireplace, too. i've been wanting to paint ours for YEARS (the previous owners WALLPAPERED it....for real!!) but then we'd have to do all the trim too and its just been at the bottom of my priority list and now we're moving, so that is that! Anyways, your home i so precious! Kudos for making it cozy and very YOU!
I adore all the personalized touches in your house! I'm also a huge fan of neutrals in a master bedroom; it just feels so calming and cozy. The pop of leopard is also fabulous, and I've been incorporating a lot of leopard into my clothes l lately...I may just need to pop a leopard print pillow or two into the house!
ReplyDeleteYou have such a cute blog!

Hi there Elise!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blogg and leaving such kind words about my little one. We too have a white fire place, and although I didn't like it much at first (which could be due to the fact the room was a mess when we bought it, and it wasn't painted nicely) I love it's now, especially when we painted the walls blue-ish gray.
In regards to a camera, I have canon rebel and love it! I by no means am a professional photographer, but able to take quality photos with it. I would suggest getting a 50 mm set lense (it makes getting a blurry background super easy). It's the lense I use most of the time.
hi sweet danielle! you are so welcome!! and blueish gray walls are my JAM! love that color. reminds me of our wedding! :) thank you for the camera tips! i am soaking them all in for my future purchase. YAY!!! good tip about the lens too...you sound like a pro!!! ;)

I love your fireplace. The candles, garland and basket are the perfect touches. I have a Nikon D3200 and I love it. I'm still getting used to it, but the picture quality is great. I think if you get a Nikon or a Canon in the $500-$1000 price range, they're all pretty comparable. adorama.com is a great site for comparing different models.
ReplyDeletethank you jenn!!! and thanks for the camera tips AND the website. appreciate the advice SO much. THANK YOU!!!!

I'm so glad you stopped by my blog so I could come a stalk yours!!
ReplyDeleteYour house looks adorable and I'm totally obsessed with your future nursery theme.
I love leopard too! I totally use my leopard flats as a neutral.
ReplyDeletegorgeous wedding pics! love your dress!
ReplyDeleteI've never seen an electric tea kettle! I have a Percolator, so I thought that's what it was until I read the description. I also love neutrals and vintage colors. I don't like to overwhelm the house and make it too busy.
ReplyDeleteLove those neutral colors! Thanks for stopping by my blog :) I love photography and started out with a Canon Rebel T2i which was fantastic! I only just recently upgraded to a Canon 5D Mark II (it was a birthday surprise from hubby) and love that as well. I'm not pro but I love talking about photography so feel free to ask me anything! Happy weekend :)
ReplyDeleteI love that fireplace! Wish I had one in my house! How you survived so many years without an electric kettle baffles me! I would never be able to survive without mine :)
ReplyDeletethank you!! we do too...especially bc our last place didn't have one. we know to appreciate it!!! :)
Deleteand i don't know how i survived without one either! ;) it was a game changer for sure!!!
